Questions?
Let's face it, we all crave for that perfect pair of eyebrows, a kind that defines our face and boosts our confidence. One popular path many individuals have found themselves treading on this quest is through the technique of microblading. This semi-permanent cosmetic procedure has been a game-changer in the beauty industry, promising fuller, beautifully defined brows. Understanding what microblading is and how it works can help you determine if it's the right choice for you. So, let's get started on the journey of unraveling microblading!
Microblading is a semi-permanent tattooing technique where a trained specialist creates hair-like strokes on the brow area using a handheld tool. The tool deposits pigment into the top layers of your skin, giving your eyebrows a fuller and more defined appearance. Imagine waking up every day with perfect brows and no need for fill-ins; that's the magic of microblading!
One of the most appealing aspects of microblading is that it's a highly personalized procedure. The Microblading process begins with a detailed consultation where you discuss your desired eyebrow shape, color, and style with the technician. It's important to communicate your expectations and preferences during this session, but don't worry if you're not sure about what would suit you best. Experienced microblading technicians are adept at recommending shapes and colors that would naturally complement your face
.
The next crucial step in the microblading journey is brow mapping. Brow mapping is a meticulous process where the technician measures your facial features to create a customized blueprint of your eyebrows. This blueprint serves as a guide for the technician to follow during the microblading process. The idea is to design brows that harmoniously balance with your other facial features. Remember, this is your brow journey, and you will have a final say in the design.
Once the shape of your eyebrows is chalked out, it's time to pick the right color. Choosing a shade that matches your natural brow color and skin tone ensures that the microbladed brows blend seamlessly with your natural eyebrows. Technicians usually have a broad palette of pigments and they can mix shades to match your natural brow color accurately.
Microblading is a minimally invasive procedure. However, to ensure your comfort, a topical numbing cream is applied to the brow area. This makes the procedure largely pain-free. You might experience a slight scratching sensation, but the overall procedure should be comfortable.
With the blueprint ready and the numbing cream in action, the actual microblading procedure begins. The technician uses a specialized microblading pen to create hair-like strokes along the outline determined by the brow mapping. Each stroke is made with precision to mimic the appearance of natural brow hairs.
The final step, and one of the most crucial ones, is the aftercare. It includes following specific guidelines to ensure your newly microbladed eyebrows heal correctly and maintain their color. These guidelines typically involve avoiding exposure to water and sun, refraining from touching the brow area, and using certain products to aid the healing process.
Microblading is a blend of art and science, requiring skill, precision, and a keen aesthetic sense. Every step from the initial consultation to aftercare is critical to the final outcome. If done correctly, microblading can transform your brows and uplift your facial features. This comprehensive guide to microblading aims to help you navigate your journey towards achieving your dream brows. Remember, your eyebrows frame your face; they deserve to be perfect!
Eyebrow Microblading
The original eyebrow permanent makeup solution that sparked a brow revolution across the globe in the last decade.
Individual hair-stroke eyebrows are drawn manually using a micro-needle hand tool with specialized pigments placed into the outer layer of the skin. The result is an ultra-natural almost 3-D look. Sometimes referred to as nanoblading, eyebrow embroidery, and other naming variations. We also provide microblading for men.
This is still our core and most widely known and requested eyebrow service, however we must consider each indiviadual client's situation before recommending the most optimal brow enhancement service for them.
Powder Brows - Ombre Brows
Potentially darker and fuller, more defined looking eyebrows, Microshading simulates the look of wearing eyebrow makeup. This can be done with varying degrees of shade to create depth (Ombré). It can be dark, bold and dramatic or more light and subtle or anything in-between, any way you like.
This is the best and often only option for those with problematic skin or old tattoos that have not completely faded.
Nano Brows (Machine Hair Strokes)
Nano Brows, also known as hair stroke brows or hairstroke brows, is the latest evolution of microblading. In the hands of a skilled artist, this is the ultimate in natural and hyper-realism when it comes to any form of eyebrow tattooing. This eyebrow enhancement option is gentler on the skin than microblading. We consider this in many ways to be a superior form of microblading.
Microblading or Nano Brows with Shading
Sometimes it is advantageous to combine Microshading with Microblading or Nano Brows, for the best of both worlds. We can even let you see just the microblading results first, before deciding. This can be a great eyebrow enhancement solution for those with patchy brows or uneven eyebrow sparseness.

Our personalized “boutique” service focuses entirely on you, and we take as much time as needed to ensure that you get the best possible result.
Most microblading appointments take about three hours on average from start to finish. When you first arrive, we will discuss your existing eyebrows and your desired outcome. We will focus on achieving the desired shape first. Our artist, who has a background as a professional makeup artist, will offer advice on what may work best for your features and face, but you will have the final say on everything.
The design will be pre-drawn on your face. We will review and make adjustments as needed until you are completely satisfied with the drawing. We will take as much time as necessary during this stage to ensure we achieve a result that pleases you. We will also review color tone and shade options. Once the design meets your satisfaction and you approve it, we will apply numbing cream, and you can relax while it takes effect.
The procedure itself typically takes 45 to 60 minutes. Afterward, we will provide you with oral and written aftercare instructions and information about a “perfecting session”, which is usually scheduled for 30 to 90 days after the initial procedure.
For more info, see our article on Microblading Steps.
While individual pain tolerance may vary, most clients report minimal discomfort during the microblading process. A topical numbing cream is applied before the procedure to help alleviate any potential discomfort. Most of our clients rate the discomfort at a level of 1-3 out of 10. Some even doze off! We often find that clients who initially express concerns about pain are pleasantly surprised at how easy the process is.
For more info, see our article on "Does Microblading Hurt?"
Our comprehensive microblading appointments typically span approximately 3 hours, allowing ample time for a thorough consultation, meticulous design process, and comprehensive client education. 2-3 Months Prior
If you are a long term user of hair growth serums on your eyebrow area, it is best to discontinue usage for 2-3 months as there products affect the structure of your skin.
2-3 Weeks Prior

2-3 Days Prior
24 Hours Prior
Most of our clients are back at work the next day or even right after their appointment! There will be a few days when your brows will possibly appear darker, bolder and more prominent than normal. There is likely to be some scabbing 3-5 days afterwards and then a flaking off. The scabbing is usually minimal for microblading, but heavier for microshading or combination brows.
Our goal is for you to have the best microblading outcome possible. Detailed written aftercare instruction will be provided to you as well as explained in detail by your artist.
Please be aware of the following restrictions for after your microblading appointment:
Five to ten Days
Avoid activities which would cause you to sweat a lot.
Ten Days
We generally recommend Microshading for oily types, which will usually yield a much better result which will last longer. The fine hairlines created with microblading tend to blur over time on oily skin and eventually look like microshading anyway (however it will not look as good had it been done intentionally from the start).
Microblading and eyebrow tattooing, though often mentioned interchangeably, possess distinct differences. Here's a clear distinction between the two:
Duration: Microblading typically maintains its visibility for 2-3 years, whereas traditional eyebrow tattoos are permanent. The longevity discrepancy arises because the ink in microblading isn't implanted as deeply into the skin. As time progresses, the ink might shift underneath the skin or rise to the surface, causing it to appear lighter. Due to this, microblading often necessitates regular touch-ups.
Ink Color Stability: Microblading uses a specific type of ink that ensures the color remains consistent even as it fades. This means blacks won't morph into shades of blue or brown, unlike some traditional eyebrow tattooing techniques which might undergo color changes over time.
Technique: Microblading involves a manual, hand-drawn technique, while there are eyebrow tattooing methods that use machines, including the newer "nano brows" technique which creates fine, steadfast lines. However, the primary distinction remains that microblading is freehand, allowing for a bespoke design tailored to each client's unique facial structure and preferences.
It should be noted that the older style of what was commonely referred to as an "eyebrow tattoo" is no longer done (hopefuly and ask far as we know!) and has been replaced by microblading or microshading.
If you will be in the Westerly area for at least 4 weeks, we can schedule both your initial appointment the follow-up perfecting appointment withing that time-frame. If you will be in our area for less than 4 weeks, we can delay your follow-up perfecting appointment until you have the opportunity to return. This is not the most ideal situation, honestly, but we have many clients who can only visit Westerly annually and do not want to trust their face with anyone else. We can accomodate most situations and make it work.
We mainly use inorganic ink pigments as they tend to be more stable than organic pigments. They are also less likely to cause an allergic reaction (which is very rare, in any case). There may be some instances where we use different types of pigments for different types of treatments. For details and an list of ingredients in our pigments and after care product, please contact us directly.
We accept Afterpay as a payment option which is a buy now pay later plan that you can sign up for on their website (see the link below) or mobile app. We also accept all major credit cards.
